The Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing, Masters Degree Program in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree Program and the Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). CCNE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency. CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency, contributing to the improvement of the public’s health. CCNE ensures quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing.

The College attained initial accreditation from the National League for Nursing for the Baccalaureate degree program in nursing in 1965 and for the Masters degree program in nursing in 1973. The College received preliminary approval from CCNE in 1999, with accreditation of the Baccalaureate degree program in nursing and the Masters degree program in 2002.  The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program received accreditation in 2009. In October 2021, The CCNE Board of Commissioners granted accreditation to the Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree Program, and the Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program at the University of Kentucky for 10 years, extending to December 21, 2031. The CCNE Board of Commissioners granted accreditation to the Masters Degree Program in Nursing (new program) at the University of Kentucky for five years, extending to December 2026.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program in Nursing is overseen by the University of Kentucky Graduate School. The University of Kentucky is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
