Fall 2022 Dean's List Released

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2022 semester. Nearly 700 nursing and pre-nursing students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.  To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes. Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean’s List.

The U.S. News and World Report released its ranking of the 100 best jobs in America for 2023, focusing on occupations with the largest projected growth between now and 2031. Nurse practitioner was ranked second on the list.     

Nursing researcher to study service provision for older adults experiencing homelessness

This is leading to an increased number of OAEH with chronic and often life-threatening illnesses. How do members of this population get their basic needs met? How can they get treatment for their conditions and how can healthcare providers best treat these patients?

Driven to Act: Undergraduate Interns Take On Health Inequities

The first class of the Health Equity Internship program will graduate this year. Over the course of the program, they have fundraised for local nonprofits through events such as Dining Out for Life. They also helped procure and distribute rainbow name badges that identify nursing students and their commitment to helping create safe spaces for conversation.   Health care isn’t always fair, but these student interns hope to change that

Shoulder to Shoulder Global program awarded USAID grant

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 14, 2022) — The University of Kentucky’s Shoulder to Shoulder Global (STSG) program and Department of Pediatrics have been awarded a grant of $421,000 from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to expand the nonprofit collaborative Centro de Salud Hombro a Hombro health center (CSHH) as an educational and empowerment site in Santo Domingo, Ecuador.
