My name is Michelle Schuler and I am so excited to start as an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Title Series. I am from Alexandria, Kentucky and moved to Lexington five years ago. I very much enjoy everything this city has to offer! I graduated with my BSN from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2019 and just recently graduated with my DNP from the University of Kentucky in May of this year. My passion for nursing started early as I listened to my mother's endless stories from her shifts. Upon starting my DNP, my advisor and other faculty guided my learning, growth, and development throughout my program. I knew from then I desired to teach and assist new nurses in their journey! I thoroughly enjoyed being a preceptor while working as an RN at the University of Kentucky on 2 Transitional Unit. While I was a staff nurse, we opened the STAR and Donation after Brain Death Units. One of my first teaching experiences included iCATS, which primarily involved nursing students. My DNP project was titled Evaluating the Outcomes of an Educational Intervention for Providers and Two-Week Home Blood Pressure Monitoring in Adults. I am interested in continuing research involving Primary Care and would like to focus also on nurse retention.
