Nurses are well-known for their steadfast, humble commitment to the service and care of others.  Now is the chance for you to say thank you and give back to these everyday heroes.

For the University of Kentucky College of Nursing’s third annual “One Day for UK” giving event, we are asking for you to support the College’s “CPR” (Cultivating Practices for Resiliency) Gift Fund. This year's One Day for UK is Wednesday, April 21.

One Day for UK is a 24-hour day of giving where alumni, faculty, staff, parents, friends and fans can support their favorite college, cause or area. It is a day to celebrate the University of Kentucky’s achievements and to ensure the university’s future success. All gifts support our comprehensive campaign, Kentucky Can: The 21st Century Campaign, which increases opportunities for student success, funds innovative research, improves health care, strengthens the alumni network and enhances athletic programs.

Nursing is a career centered around caring for the sick and injured. Providing this constant care and attention to patients can in turn take a toll on the mental health, anxiety and wellbeing of the caregiver. Teaching our nursing students how to become resilient helps them learn how to care of themselves so they can better care for others. The “CPR Room,” a dedicated space on the College’s 6th floor helps students to relax and recharge.

CPR funds are used for:

  • Resiliency training, journaling workshops, lessons, lectures
  • QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training to prevent suicide
  •  Yoga mats, exercise balls, media, mediation tapes
  •  Visual platforms for CPR activities
  •  Items to create a “Zen-like" atmosphere in the CPR Room (examples: water feature, decorative plants, aromatherapy oils, etc.)

When you make a gift to the College’s CPR Fund, you help us meet the ever-changing needs of our students. With your support, you honor today’s students, tomorrow’s alumni and our future healthcare leaders. Visit onedayforuk.uky.edu to track our progress and to make your gift.
