Alumni Spotlight: Kylie Dougherty

Congratulations to Dr. Kylie Dougherty, RN, BSN, MPhil, who successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation at Columbia University.    Dr. Dougherty earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors at the UK College of Nursing (UK CON) in 2019. CDC grant to fund BREATHE co-director Melinda Ickes’ program targeting tobacco-related health disparities

A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant targeting tobacco-related health disparities has been awarded for a program designed by Melinda Ickes, Ph.D., a University of Kentucky College of Education professor of health promotion. UK is among eight sites across the U.S. using the funding to address health disparities related to using menthol and other flavored tobacco products. It is part of a CDC Office on Smoking and Health five-year, $15 million program focused on advancing health equity and advances the mission of the White House Cancer Moonshot.

Alumni Spotlight: Rebekah Dailey

This week, we are excited to highlight UK College of Nursing alumna Rebekah Dailey, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, LSS-GB. She is currently a Policy Fellow for Stanford Byers Biodesign Program in Stanford, California.    Dr. Dailey is a two-time UK graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 2012 and Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2017 with a specialization in Population and Organizational Systems Leadership.    Here's what we learned during our talk with Dr. Dailey:

UK Researchers' Study Focuses on Preventing Deaths of Pregnant Women

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2023) — A team of researchers at the University of Kentucky is working to reduce the number of deaths and injuries among pregnant and postpartum women through an online training program for UK students in helping professions across nine UK colleges.
