College of Nursing Employees Receive Outstanding Staff Awards

Two University of Kentucky College of Nursing employees, Kathy Collins and Kevin Garland, received Outstanding Staff Awards on Tuesday, October 10.

Kathy Collins, student services officer for the College's graduate programs, was nominated by May 2017 DNP graduate Nicki Sullivan for the Outstanding Staff Award. She received a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health Administration from the University of Kentucky. She worked 10 years in business administration, medical staff credentialing and health administration prior to joining the College of Nursing in 1997. Kathy advises prospective graduate program applicants, manages the admission process and student progression from matriculation through degree certification. She also creates and maintains the graduate program schedule of classes.

Kevin Garland, the College's travel and purchasing coordinator, received the UK CON Staff Employee of the Year Award, nominated by his supervisor, Christie Henson. Kevin joined the College’s business office in August 2014. Prior to this position, he served as the travel coordinator in the Health Profession Colleges Integrated Business Unit and before that he worked with the travel area of the university’s Athletics Department for 12 years. Kevin has been an employee of UK since 1997.
