Student Leaders Join Faculty for KNA Advocacy Day

On Feb. 6, undergraduate student leaders joined faculty members Drs. Hartley Feld, Julie Ossege, Ellen Hahn and Julie Marfell for the Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA) Advocacy Day in Frankfort.

The day started with a talk by KNA lobbyist Dr. Sheila Schuster, followed by remarks from Delanor Mason, KNA Executive Director and KNA President Dr. Ruth Carrico.

The students visited with Rep. Kelly Flood and Sen. Reggie Thomas to discuss KNA legislative priorities, including having a nurse in every school in Kentucky and prohibiting tobacco use in schools and on school property among other issues related to nursing practice and the health of citizens in the Commonwealth.
