Assistant Professor, Clinical Title Series (Med Surg)

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing Undergraduate Program is seeking a UKHC Clinical Faculty of Excellence- Assistant Professor, (tenure-ineligible) Clinical Title Series. This position is a 10-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 50-70% Teaching and Advising, 0-40% Clinical Practice/Instruction, 0-10% Research and Scholarly Activity, and 5-10% Service and Professional Development, which will be reviewed annually. The salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000. This position has established funding from UKHC for one year, with the potential for an extension. We anticipate a start date on or after August 1, 2024.

This position, based in Lexington, KY, will assist in the undergraduate program instruction and includes teaching, advising, mentoring and clinical instruction in the medical surgical courses in our BSN track. Additional teaching assignments may be considered in other core BSN nursing courses. This position requires classroom and online instruction, supervision of nursing students in clinical settings, involvement on college committees, scholarship, collaboration with other faculty and staff in nursing education. Preferred experience with advising and successful teaching of adult students, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The required education and experience include a doctorate degree. Doctorate degree in nursing preferred and a minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience within the last 5 years required. An active, unencumbered Kentucky RN license is required. Experience in Medical Surgical required and successful teaching with baccalaureate nursing students experience preferred.

Assistant Professor, Regular Title Series

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is seeking a Regular Title Series (tenure eligible) Assistant Professor. This position is a 10-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 40% Teaching and Advising, 0% Clinical Practice Activities, 45% Research and Scholarly Activity, and 15% Service/Professional Development which will be reviewed annually. We anticipate a start date on or after August 1, 2024.
 

This position, onsite, based in Lexington, KY, and will assist with undergraduate and graduate program instruction by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, taking an active role in mentoring students and possibly postdoctoral students, and scholarship by development of an independent and nationally recognized program of research. Service to the College of Nursing, University and discipline of Nursing are a component of the job. This position involves designing, implementing and evaluating assigned didactic courses, advising students, guiding student projects, and serving on advisory and graduate committees. Research activities include submission of manuscripts for publication, presentation of scholarly activities in peer-reviewed venues, participation as both investigator and co-investigator on research projects, and leadership and collaboration in the development of grant proposals for research projects. Service on college, UK Healthcare, and University committees as appropriate. The candidate should have research and academic experience that includes experience with advising and successful teaching of adult students, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The required education and experience include an earned doctoral degree in nursing or related field and hold an active Kentucky license as a registered nurse, if appropriate.

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing Graduate DNP Program is seeking a SpecialTitle Series (tenure-eligible) Assistant/Associate/Professor (open-rank). This position is an onsite 12-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 70-80% Teaching and Advising, 0-20% Clinical Practice Activities, 15% Research and Scholarly Activity, and 5% Service/Professional Development which will be reviewed annually. This position, based in Lexington, KY, and will assist in MSN/DNP program instruction needed to expand and resource the Healthcare Systems Leadership Program (ENL) specialty program in the College of Nursing. This position requires an individual to provide teaching, advising, and mentoring related to Healthcare Systems Leadership and Executive Nurse leadership. Contributions to scholarly practice, and in advancing nursing professionalism as an advanced practice nurse. Position responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating didactic and clinical courses in the College’s Graduate Nursing programs, planning and evaluating student clinical experiences, and advise students in the DNP program. This position requires the candidate to serve as a liaison between the College and clinical agencies in which student placements occur and participate as an active interprofessional team member. Collaboration with UK Healthcare providers, administrators and staff is required to assess, develop and evaluate strategies targeted at leadership areas of nursing. Candidate is expected to participate in the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of applicable programs, projects, scholarship and research anticipating the submission of manuscripts for publication and presentations of scholarly activities in peer-reviewed venues. Participation as an investigator or as a co-investigator on evidence-based practice or research projects and grant proposals. The required education and experience include an earned PhD or DNP nursing degree with demonstration of expertise in nursing administration and evidence-based practice. ActiveKentucky license as a registered nurse required along with at least 5 years of practice and academic experience.

This position, based in Lexington, KY, onsite, will assist in the expansion and resource the Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty education, teach and practice in the Graduate programs within the College of Nursing. This position requires an individual to provide teaching, advising, mentoring and leadership for the College and University and building scholarly practice related to delivery of care to acute and chronically ill populations in inpatient/outpatient clinical settings. This candidate will contribute to scholarly practice and in advancing nursing professionalism as an advance practice nurse. Candidate will design, implement and evaluate the assigned didactic and clinical courses in the College’s graduate programs. They will plan and evaluate student clinical experiences, and guide DNP student projects also serving on advisory committees based on rank. The candidate will engage in an active role within the College of Nursing’s scholarly activities including submissions of manuscripts for publications, presentation of scholarly activities in peer-reviewed venues and collaboration with research projects, grant proposals, and evidence-based practice research projects. Additionally, the candidate will provide clinical services as an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP). The required education and experience include an earned doctoral degree in nursing or doctoral degree in associated field with baccalaureate in nursing and master’s degree in nursing. Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) specialization as an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and an active Kentucky license as a registered nurse is also required. Active KBN certification as an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner required. A minimum of 2 years of related professional clinical practice nursing experience within the last 5 years.

Education/Experience

A PhD in nursing is preferred or a PhD in an associated field with a master’s degree in nursing. A record of collaborative extramurally funded research and scholarship, experience as an educator and a track record of service to the nursing profession commensurate with appointment as an assistant or associate professor at the College of Nursing. A Kentucky Nursing License, or the ability to obtain a Kentucky Nursing license.
