Part-Time Clinical Instructor Fall 2025 Semester

The College of Nursing is hiring part time clinical instructors for our Fall 2025 semester.  The part-time Clinical Instructor for the University of Kentucky Bachelors of Nursing Program plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application for nursing students. This position involves interpreting the mission and aims of the College of Nursing to plan and deliver nursing care within healthcare agencies, serving as a role model, and maintaining current clinical competency and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Instruction and Supervision: Provide hands-on clinical instruction and supervision to nursing students, ensuring the delivery of safe patient care. Facilitate valuable learning experiences, including the use of the nursing process and clinical judgment.

Student Orientation and Evaluation: Orient students to clinical settings, reinforcing concepts from the BSN curriculum, and helping them develop professional skills, clinical reasoning, and effective communication. Plan and assign student tasks, and guide students in acquiring necessary nursing skills. Conduct student evaluations weekly, at mid-term, and at the end of the term, providing timely feedback to promote student success.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with course faculty, healthcare agency staff, and other faculty members to ensure effective clinical learning experiences. Serve as a positive liaison between the College of Nursing and healthcare agencies, and maintain open communication with all stakeholders.

Professional Development: Attend mandatory orientation and training sessions; maintain compliance with clinical site requirements; participate in faculty meetings and ongoing program evaluation activities, as required; provide update professional portfolio annually.

The required education is a master’s degree or higher in nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in nursing with evidence of graduate hours in nursing complete with annual review and approval of the Associate Dean. Two years of full-time nursing employment or the equivalent within the last 5 years with evidence of competence in clinical area.   The required license and certification include a current unencumbered license or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider valid for at least 6 months after employment date.  **For specific Request #1- Please upload 2 recommendation letters in one PDF.

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to expand and resource the MSN and DNP programs. This position offers the opportunity to           engage in teaching, advising, mentoring, and leadership, contributing to the continued growth and success of our graduate programs. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for nursing education and scholarly practice while supporting the development of Family Nurse Practitioners. The role will include responsibilities related to educational activities, research, clinical practice, and service to the University, fostering a collaborative environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position requires an individual to provide teaching, advising/mentoring, and leadership for the College and University while building scholarly practice related to the practice paradigm. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development and expansion of the MSN/DNP programs, specifically supporting the education of Family Nurse Practitioners. This will be a position with a 12-month appointment and an anticipated Distribution of Effort of approximately 50-70% Teaching and Advising, 0-20% Clinical Practice Activities, 15-20% Research and Scholarly Activities, and 10% Service and Professional Development. This position is based in Lexington, KY, and would be an onsite position. We anticipate a start date on July 1, 2025, but no later than August 1, 2025.


This Special Title Series role’s key responsibilities will include: 1) Design, implement, and evaluate assigned didactic and clinical courses in the College’s graduate programs through recognized curriculum processes; 2) Plan and evaluate student clinical experiences; 3) Advise students in the MSN/DNP programs, providing guidance and mentorship 4) Guide DNP students’ projects and/or serve on advisory committees, depending on background and expertise; 5) Attend faculty and course meetings to ensure program alignment and student success; 6) Actively contribute to the College of Nursing scholarly activities; 7) Develop and advance a program of scholarship in nursing and healthcare; 8) Submit manuscripts for publication and present scholarly work in peer reviewed venues; 9) Lead investigations in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), Quality Improvement (QI), or policy initiatives; 10) Seek funding opportunities to support scholarly endeavors; 11) Provide clinical services, as required for certification which may be inside or external to workload; 12) Participate as an active interprofessional team member and lead projects; 13) Collaborate with UK Healthcare nursing administrators to delineate nursing practice roles and standards as an APRN to improve care for patients and families; 14) Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programs and staff education; 15) Mentor staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based practice projects in nursing. 16) Serve on college and/or university committees as appropriate; and 17) Contribute to interprofessional advisory boards and committees focused on developing policy and setting priorities for nursing services as opportunities arise.

Qualified applicants required education include an earned doctorate degree in nursing or related field with a minimum of a BSN, BSN-DNP, or master’s degree in nursing. An active, unencumbered Kentucky RN license and active Kentucky Board of Nursing ABSN certification is required. This individual should exhibit strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills with a commitment to ongoing scholarship aligned with professional interests.

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is seeking a Regular Title Series (tenure- eligible) Assistant Professor. This position is a 10-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 45-70% Teaching and Advising, 0% Clinical Practice Activities, 20-40% Research and Scholarly Activity, and 10% Service which will be reviewed annually. We anticipate a start date no later than August 1, 2025.

This position, onsite, based in Lexington, KY, will assist with undergraduate and graduate program instruction by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, taking an active role in mentoring students and possibly postdoctoral students, and scholarship by development of an independent and nationally recognized program of research. Service to the College of Nursing, University and discipline of Nursing are a component of the job. This position involves designing, implementing and evaluating assigned didactic courses, advising students, guiding student projects, and serving on advisory and graduate committees. 

Research activities include submission of manuscripts for publication, presentation of scholarly activities in peer-reviewed venues, participation as both investigator and co-investigator on research projects, and leadership and collaboration in the development of grant proposals for research projects. Service on college, UK Healthcare, and University committees as appropriate. The candidate should have research and academic experience that includes experience with advising and successful teaching of adult students, and possession of strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The required education and experience include an earned PhD degree in nursing or related field and hold an active Kentucky license as a registered nurse.  This posting will remain open until filled.
