Assistant Professor, College of Nursing FE04499

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing invites qualified candidates to apply for this Clinical Title Series (tenure-ineligible) Assistant Professor position. This position is a 12-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 55-70% Teaching and Advising, 20-35% Administration, 5% Scholarly Activity, and 5% Service and professional development, which will be reviewed annually. We anticipate a start date of July 1, 2025, but no later than August 1, 2025. An earlier date is subject to negotiation.

This position, based in Lexington, KY, onsite, will serve as the Director of and faculty member in the Bachelor of Science Surgical First Assist program within the College of Nursing. This leadership position involves overseeing all aspects of the BSSFA program, including course design, administration, budget management, continuous evaluation, and planning for accreditation. Additionally, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the development of a new laboratory to enhance the program. A significant portion of the workload will focus on teaching, ensuring students receive high-quality education and practical clinical experiences.

As the Program Director, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of students preparing for a specialty in Surgical First Assist. In addition to providing instruction, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, maintaining strong relationships with accrediting bodies, and ensuring that all program activities align with the educational goals of the institution. Key responsibilities include: design, implement, and evaluate courses for the program ensuring curricular changes through contacts with professional accrediting bodies, advisory committees, and employer groups; provide instruction in program courses; plan, evaluate and oversee student clinical experiences; manage lab equipment, supplies and accreditation requirements; establish and maintain lab guidelines, policies, and procedures; oversee the student evaluation process, providing feedback and documentation; advise BSSFA students in the program and assist with their professional development; maintain professional certifications (KCSA, CSFA, CSA) and stay current in education and clinical competencies; marketing the program and provide access to students; attend faculty and course meetings, participates in shared governance in the college, and collaborates across colleges and the university to ensure student success; and oversee total program evaluation, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to ARC/STSA and Commission on Accreditation of Allies Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and SACS accreditation standards.

The required education and experience include a minimum of an earned master’s degree from an accredited university with a preferred additional bachelor’s degree in a health-related field; certification in Surgical First Assistant role and is licensed, or eligible for licensure by the Kentucky Medical Board; and a minimum of three years’ experience as a program director in Surgical First Assistant with current experience in the operating room. Current experience spent as a practicing surgical first assistant should be within the last five years. The candidate should be proficient in instructional methods, curriculum design and have program planning experience. Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas, Blackboard, etc. is preferred.

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing Graduate DNP Program is seeking a SpecialTitle Series (tenure-eligible) Assistant/Associate/Professor (open-rank). This position is an onsite 12-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 70-80% Teaching and Advising, 0-20% Clinical Practice Activities, 15% Research and Scholarly Activity, and 5% Service/Professional Development which will be reviewed annually. We anticipate a start date of July 1, 2025, but no later than October 1, 2025.

This position, based in Lexington, KY, and will assist in MSN/DNP program instruction needed to expand and resource the Healthcare Systems Leadership Program (ENL) specialty program in the College of Nursing. This position requires an individual to provide teaching, advising, and mentoring related to Healthcare Systems Leadership and Executive Nurse leadership. Contributions to scholarly practice, and in advancing nursing professionalism as an advanced practice nurse. Position responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating didactic and clinical courses in the College’s Graduate Nursing programs, planning and evaluating student clinical experiences, and advise students in the DNP program. This position requires the candidate to serve as a liaison between the College and clinical agencies in which student placements occur and participate as an active interprofessional team member. Collaboration with UK Healthcare providers, administrators and staff is required to assess, develop and evaluate strategies targeted at leadership areas of nursing. Candidate is expected to participate in the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of applicable programs, projects, scholarship and research anticipating the submission of manuscripts for publication and presentations of scholarly activities in peer-reviewed venues. Participation as an investigator or as a co-investigator on evidence-based practice or research projects and grant proposals. The required education and experience include an earned PhD or DNP nursing degree with demonstration of expertise in nursing administration and evidence-based practice. ActiveKentucky license as a registered nurse required along with at least 5 years of practice and academic experience.

Lecturer, College of Nursing

The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing Undergraduate Program is seeking a Lecturer Title Series (tenure-ineligible) Lecturer. This position is a 9-month appointment with an anticipated Distribution of Effort of about 90% Teaching and Advising, and 10% Service/Professional Development which will be reviewed annually. We anticipate a start date of January 1, 2025 but not later than March 1, 2025.

 

This position, onsite and based in Lexington, KY, will assist and resource the Undergraduate BSN program within the College of Nursing. This position requires an individual to provide teaching, advising, and mentoring of undergraduate students enrolled in the BSN program. Candidate will implement and evaluate the assigned didactic and clinical courses in the College’s undergraduate program. They will plan and evaluate student clinical experiences and sites, and guide BSN students. Additionally, the candidate will provide clinical services as an undergraduate clinical instructor as delineated. The required education and experience include an earned Master’s Degree in nursing. DNP or PhD in nursing preferred. Preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education preferred, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Clinical experience in one or more of the areas of health promotion, pediatrics, public health, physical assessment, synthesis, professional role or pharmacology required. Successful teaching experience with baccalaureate nursing students in the areas of health promotion, pediatrics, public health, physical assessment, synthesis, professional role or pharmacology preferred. An active unencumbered Kentucky license as a registered nurse and a minimum of 2 years of related professional clinical practice nursing experience within the last 5 years is required.
