Jessica Thompson received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Nursing in 2014. After receiving her BSN, she worked for six years in the University of Kentucky’s cardiovascular intensive care unit. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2019, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nursing Scholar. She also received the Carolyn B. Williams Award for Outstanding PhD Student. She works as a post-doctoral fellow in applied quantitative methods in cardiovascular disease at Boston College William F. Connel School of Nursing with an internationally recognized researcher. In her post-doctoral fellowship, she is focused on advanced statistical modeling techniques. Over the past three years, Jessica has had over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her research has focused on patients with advanced heart disease requiring implantable cardioverter defibrillators and left ventricular assist devices.

Dr. Thompson joins us as a lecturer in the accelerated BSN program teaching fundamentals, pathopharmocology, and med-surg courses. She has completed a professional certification in online education from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and has been an integral part of designing online course work for this program.
