Mary Kay Rayens, PhD
Professor
Dr. Mary Kay Rayens is a professor and biostatistician with more than a three decades of experience in designing studies and analyzing data resulting from research projects in nursing science specifically and public health more broadly. She has served as a PI, Co-I, or Mentor on a myriad of extramurally funded projects focused on tobacco policy, tobacco regulatory science, and clean indoor air (including effects of smoke-free laws and radon mitigation). With her focus on all quantitative aspects of research, she has had the opportunity to collaborate on research projects in a variety of additional content areas, including intervention studies for disease prevention and improvement in outcomes for those with a diagnosis. Through these collaborations, she has been able to develop expertise not only in longitudinal intervention trials, but also in survey research and analysis of large datasets. In addition to her research commitments, Dr. Rayens teaches biostatistics and measurement in the graduate program.
