Paul Norrod, DrPH, M.Div., MA-C, RN

Paul earned his Doctor of Public Health in Epidemiology in 2021 as a CDC NIOSH Epidemiology fellow and received the outstanding doctoral student award from the College of Public Health. He holds a Mastery of Divinity and Master of Arts in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary and received his BSN from Tennessee Technological University in 2000. Prior to entering the field of nursing, Paul worked as an EMT. He has worked in a variety of nursing roles including emergency and intensive care nursing, primary care, and population health. His recent nursing experience includes working with Catholic Health Initiatives, where he helped develop and deploy their Patient Centered Medical Home for the Kentucky market, and Baptist Health with efforts focused on reducing readmissions among complex care patients with Sepsis, Stroke, AMI, and COVID-19.

Dr. Norrod currently serves as the Principal Extension Specialist for rural and farm stress and suicide prevention in the College of Agriculture and is a Community and Public Health Nursing Instructor for the College of Nursing. His research focuses on rural and farm stress and occupational suicide. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Commonwealth Center for Fathers and Families where he helps lead efforts to reduce child maltreatment.
