The College of Nursing held its annual Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, May 9 at the Hyatt Hotel. Faculty and staff were recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Five years of service at UK – Jason Harris, director of IT; Tricia MacCallum, project manager for the CON/NHC Academic Partnership

10 years of service at UK – Jeanine Vezie, project director and research associate for RICH Heart Program; Danielle Johnson, administrative assistant; Tammy Mickschl, patient relations assistant

Dean’s Faculty Puma Award – Zim Okoli, PhD, MPH, MSN, RN, assistant professor

Dean’s Staff Puma Award – Heather Robertson, project manager (BREATHE and Eastern State Hospital)

Excellence in Clinical Practice Award – Lynn Kelso, MSN, APRN, FCCM, FAANP, assistant professor

Excellence in Undergraduate/Unit Agency Award – 2H South ICU at Baptist Health

Excellence in Graduate Precepting Award – Stephanie Eggert, Cincinnati Children’s

Excellence in Undergraduate Clinical Precepting Award – Amie Rainwater, Good Samaritan

Gloe L. Bertram award – Kevin Garland, travel/purchasing coordinator

Louise J. Zegeer Award for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence – Stephanie Fugate, MSN, ACNP, instructor

Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award – Debra Hampton, PhD, MSN, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, assistant professor

Excellence in Part-time Teaching Award – Hartley Feld, MSN, RN, instructor

Excellence in Research/Scholarship Award – Gia Mudd-Martin, PhD, MPH, RN, associate professor

Teaching Excellence in Support of Professional Nursing – Julie Ossege, PhD, FNP-BC, FNAP, associate professor

Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award – Leslie Beebe, MSN, RN, senior lecturer

Employee of the Year Award – Kevin Garland, travel/purchasing coordinator

The College would also like to recognize Carrie Gordy, APRN, MSN, PNP-BC, assistant professor, and Pat Burkhart, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor and associate dean of undergraduate faculty affairs, who will be retiring this summer. Both have changed the landscape of pediatric nursing and have pushed the College forward in building a strong nursing workforce. It is bittersweet that they are leaving, but we wish them the best as they embark on a new journey!

The College invites you to a retirement celebration for Carrie Gordy on May 10 at 3 pm in CTW Commons and a retirement celebration for Dr. Burkhart on June 19 at the Boone Center, 4:30-6:30 pm.
