Associate Professor Lynne Jensen, PhD, RN, APRN, was named provider of the month by the Advanced Practice Providers, a council that provides a forum for discussion of issues (national, state and institutional) relevant to the scope and standards of practice for advance practice providers.

Jensen, who also serves as the medical director for the Advancement of Women’s Health Primary Care Practice, earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Boston College, her master’s as an adult nurse practitioner from State University of New York at Buffalo and her PhD at the University of Kentucky.

“This is a well-deserved recognition for Dr. Jensen,” said Dr. Janie Heath, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing. “Her work in transforming students into top nurses and patient transitions is pivotal in our continued effort to improve the health of and health care for our local and global communities.”

Currently, Jensen is involved in two research grants; one focusing on transitions of care for patients with stroke from UK HealthCare to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital.  The other project, titled “An Innovative Approach to Provide SBIRT Training (IAST) for Health Care Providers,” involves simulation activities to teach nurse practitioner students to improve clinical skills related to substance use disorders.

The Advanced Practice Council is comprised of representatives amongst Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Anesthetists, and Physician Assistants, all from diverse clinical backgrounds including Adult and Pediatric Ambulatory Care, Acute Care, and Critical Care.
