We love seeing our nursing students involved in Girls on the Run! As part of their public health clinical, they serve as head coaches of the team at several local elementary schools. Girls on the Run Central Kentucky empowers and builds resilience among girls, promoting exercise, nutrition, mental health, social support, communication and coping skills, critical life skills and problem solving.

Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Lexington’s council began in 2009 with only two groups in Fayette County and has blossomed in the last 8 years to include 18 counties within Central Kentucky. Our fall 2017 season concluded with over 770 girls, 49 teams at 40 sites with 260 volunteers!
