Jordan Brown and Omar Brown Receive 2024 Lyman T. Johnson Awards

Congratulations to College of Nursing senior Jordan Brown and Class of 2024 alum Omar Brown on receiving 2024 Lyman T. Johnson awards! Jordan received the Torch Bearer award and Omar received the Torch of Excellence award. They were honored and presented the awards - along with 33 other award winners from colleges across the University of Kentucky - at a ceremony during the 2024 Homecoming Week. 

Nursing PhD Students Selected for UNITE Program

The United In True Equity Research Priority Area (UNITE RPA) welcomed this year’s cohort of 21 graduate students to the UNITE Predoctoral Research Enhancement Program.

Spring 2023 Dean's List Released

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing has released its Dean's List for the Spring 2023 semester. Nearly 650 nursing and pre-nursing students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.  To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes. Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean’s List.

Fall 2022 Dean's List Released

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2022 semester. Driven to Act: Undergraduate Interns Take On Health Inequities

The first class of the Health Equity Internship program will graduate this year. Over the course of the program, they have fundraised for local nonprofits through events such as Dining Out for Life. They also helped procure and distribute rainbow name badges that identify nursing students and their commitment to helping create safe spaces for conversation.   Health care isn’t always fair, but these student interns hope to change that   

Geunyeong Cha selected for 2022 Outstanding SAHA Cardiovascular Research Nursing Student

  College of Nursing and PhD student, Geunyeong Cha, was selected as the 2022 Outstanding Saha Cardiovascular Research Nursing Student on October 28th.  The Saha Awards, provided through UK’s Saha Cardiovascular Research Center, are given to encourage and support staff and students with an interest in, and dedication to, cardiovascular medicine.

Taking His Victory Lap

  “A lot of people doubted me coming back for the fifth year. There was a lot of ‘Why don’t you get your career going?’ But I only get one chance to play college football again. So why not?” Colin Goodfellow, UK’s starting punter and a recent UK College of Nursing graduate, is making the most of every moment of his time at UK. He’s currently in his fifth year, taking advantage of the NCAA ruling that allows student-athletes one additional year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UK Nursing student places third in Global Case Competition

Congratulations to senior University of Kentucky College of Nursing student Ojawsi Piya for placing third in the Office of Global Health Initiatives' annual Global Case Competition.  Ojawsi was part of a four-person interprofessional team with students from other UK colleges: Mary Winifred Edom (College of Arts and Sciences), Abby Knoy (College of Arts and Sciences), and Farhad Shahidi (Gatton College of Business and Economics).
