Candice Harvey Falls, PhD, MSN, ACNP-BC, CVNP-BC, FACC is an accomplished nurse practitioner, educator, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in cardiovascular and critical care. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track Coordinator at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, where she is known for her leadership in advanced practice nursing education and her mentorship of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students. In addition, she also serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor for the Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Cardiac Transplantation Service Line. 

Dr. Falls holds board certifications as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner, and she is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Kentucky, with previous graduate degrees in Nursing and Exercise Physiology from Vanderbilt University and the University of Kentucky, respectively. Her academic credentials underpin her deep commitment to advancing nursing practice, especially in cardiovascular care. 

Dr. Falls scholarly work is extensive with numerous published peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters on heart failure, advanced therapies, obesity, and clinical education. She is a recognized invited speaker and presenter at national conferences, including those hosted by the American College of Cardiology, and serves as a reviewer for journals including JACC: Case Reports and Journal of Heart & Lung.

Dr. Falls’ expertise is recognized nationwide. She is actively involved in professional service at institutional, regional, and national levels. She serves on the American College of Cardiology’s Partners in Quality Committee and mentors early-career clinicians through the American Nurses Association. Additionally, She serves on multiple committees and holds leadership positions within the University of Kentucky. Her contributions to interprofessional education, student mentorship, and simulation-based learning have earned her several institutional and national accolades.

Dr. Falls is also heavily involved in community outreach. Her volunteer work includes serving as a medical volunteer at her local church and in underserved areas and raising funds for various heart health initiatives.

Throughout her career, Dr. Falls has earned numerous awards for her excellence in nursing practice and education, including recognition from the University of Kentucky for academic clinical engagement.

Dedicated to advancing the nurse practitioner role, Dr. Falls combines clinical excellence, academic leadership, and community service, and continues to influence the future of advancing the nursing profession through her teaching, research, and practice.
