Smoke-free Kentucky Coalition Travelling to Promote Smoke-free Laws

8/1/2014 – As part of a weeklong tour across the state, the Smoke-Free Kentucky Coalition made a stop at the UK Markey Cancer Center on July 30 to promote better health for Kentuckians through smoke-free policies. The event at Markey was one of several stops across the state as it heads to western Kentucky for the annual Fancy Farm Picnic.

The UK College of Nursing made a strong showing at the 2015 AACN (American Association of Colleges of Nursing) Student Policy Summit in late March in Washington to meet with Kentucky legislators. Dean Janie Heath was joined by BSN student Katie Voigts, DNP student Gwen Moreland, PhD student Tracey Vitori and AACN Faculty Policy Fellow Dr. Amanda Fallin. Dean Heath serves as the AACN Government Affairs-State Grassroots Liaison to help promote and influence policy related to higher education in nursing.
