Lynne Jensen, PhD, RN, APRN, associate professor, was recognized with the UK HealthCare and UK College of Nursing Award on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Lynne Andersen Jensen is a native of Buffalo, New York. She earned her BSN at Boston College in 1975, and a master’s degree as a nurse practitioner from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980. Her doctoral degree was obtained from the University of Kentucky in 2007. Her dissertation focused on women and cardiac disease. Dr. Jensen has worked as a nurse practitioner since 1979 in a variety of positions in acute care and women’s health. She was one of the first cardiothoracic acute care nurse practitioners at the University of Rochester. In the late 1980s she transitioned to working in women’s health in private practice. She joined the University of Kentucky College of Nursing in 1998 and was a founding member of the women’s health practice in 1999.

She is the associate director for clinical care for the Center for the Advancement of Women’s Health at UK, where she maintains an active practice. In her teaching role at UK, Dr. Jensen has worked with the College of Medicine and their standardized patient program in developing evaluations for nurse practitioner students since 2001. She has presented at national meetings on the use of OSCEs and SCIMs in the nurse practitioner curriculum. She also serves as clinical faculty for the family nurse practitioner students as well as teaching in the family nurse practitioner specialty courses.
