Five College of Nursing Students were honored at the Graduate Students of Color Professional Development Colloquium: Nourishing Roots and Growing Branches hosted by the Center for Graduate and Professional Diversity Initiatives (CGD) on Friday, March 31 in the Woodward Hall of the Gatton College of Business and Economics Building.

From left to right:

  • Tamara Mayes, BSN student, received the Professional Development Award
  • Joy Coles, DNP student, received the Exceptional Student Service Award
  • Erika Ventura-Castellon, BSN student, received the Professional Development Award
  • Nana Ntodi, BSN student, received the Professional Development Award

"This colloquium is intended to provide a space for greater support and development of graduate students of color at the university. Attendees will have opportunities to network with other students and faculty while discussing their experiences navigating graduate education and the pursuit of their professional career trajectories," said CGD Director Chassity Holliman-Douglas.

The colloquium was a half-day conference for all University of Kentucky graduate and undergraduate students. Through interactive workshops, panels and presentations, students engaged in critical conversations aimed to strengthen their professional development and enhance their academic journey.
