UK Nursing Faculty Named Assistant Director for Cancer Health Equity at Markey

  The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has appointed Lovoria Williams, Ph.D., as assistant director for cancer health equity, a newly created position within the Markey leadership structure.

Rural & Underserved Health Research Center receives $2.8 million in renewed funding, finds new home in College of Nursing

The Rural & Underserved Health Research Center (RUHRC) recently received a $2.8 million, 4-year funding renewal from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to continue important research on health and health care challenges unique to rural communities. The Center is the only new rural health center in the nation to receive renewal funding in the past 20 years.

UK Nursing part of regional group working to reduce farmer stress

Lexington, Ky., - Unprecedented times have unleashed an enormous amount of new and unique stressors on American farm families. To help producers and their families better deal with stressful events, researchers in the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and College of Nursing have joined other scientists from across the South to develop resources to help producers combat stress.

Newly-renewed scholarship fund honors legacy of Dr. Juanita Fleming

  The UK College of Nursing is proud to announce the renewal of a scholarship fund in honor of Dr. Juanita Fleming, the college's first African-American faculty member.   UK CON Dean Janie Heath joined Marsha Hughes-Rease, the UK CON's first African-American BSN graduate, to announce the scholarship fund's renewal during the college's virtual 2020 Celebration of Alumni Stars event Sept. 10.  

Nursing's Dr. Biddle receives grant from CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

Congratulations to Martha Biddle PhD, APRN, CCNS, FAHA for her success in receiving a new federal pilot award from the CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health title “Exploring the Feasibility of a Start-up Incubator Intervention to Decrease Occupational Stress and Depression in Beginning Kentucky Farmers”. This 12 month, $15,000  award, will address an existing knowledge gap related to occupational stress and depression in beginning farmers with a novel strategy of mentorship and a virtual community of support intervention.
