From College of Nursing Dean Search Committee Co-Chairs: Process Update and Opportunity for Input

Dear Colleagues:

On March 14, Acting Provost DiPaola announced the roster of the College of Nursing Dean Search Committee. The committee held their initial meeting on March 29, during which they received their charge from the Acting Provost. They also interacted with Spencer Stuart, the executive search firm retained to assist with the search process, including recruitment of candidates on UK’s behalf.

As a next step in the search process, a position description for the role of Dean will be finalized. Then, Spencer Stuart will enter the market to begin recruitment of candidates. Following a period of focused recruitment, the search committee will be asked to participate in candidate review activities, which will lead toward campus visits from finalist candidates. There will be opportunities for your involvement in those campus visits, including opportunities to provide feedback regarding each candidate. 

While the search committee includes strong representation from the college, we also wanted to provide an opportunity for all stakeholders in the college to provide input as the process moves forward. To that end, an email address has been created related to this search: UKYNursingDean@spencerstuart.com. 

We invite anyone who would like to provide input to the process at this point to do so. Your input could address any or all of the following questions: 

1. What is the vision for the College of Nursing in the next three to five years?
2. What types of experiences, qualifications, and/or accomplishments would you like to see in candidates for this position?
3. What would you like to see a new Dean accomplish in their first two years in the role?
4. Are there any other thoughts related to this recruitment you would like us to consider?

In addition, at any point during the process, please submit the names of any individuals you would like to nominate for this position. Spencer Stuart will reach out to all nominees to provide more information about the role.
