The University of Kentucky College of Nursing is excited to welcome Corey Moore EdD (c), MA, BS, as the College’s new assistant dean of academic advising and student success. 

In his new role, Moore will oversee all student services activities related to admission, retention, progression, and advising of undergraduate and graduate students in the College. He will also oversee student rights and responsibilities, student discipline processes, and administrative and educational services that support the personal and academic success of students. As an assistant dean, Moore will also be responsible for supporting the College’s efforts in increasing diversity and promoting student mental health. 

“We are so thrilled to have Corey Moore join our team at the UK College of Nursing,” said Janie Heath, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing at the UK College of Nursing.  “Corey’s background in academic affairs and passion for student success will undoubtedly make him a trusted advisor for our students and a valuable member of our staff.  We look forward to welcoming him to UK and the Big Blue Nursing Nation!”

Moore previously served as the director of nursing administration and student affairs at the Loewenberg College of Nursing, University of Memphis. Prior to that, he served as an academic advisor for 13 years at Michigan State University, where he was instrumental in leading numerous campus-wide initiatives related to student and academic affairs. Moore is also a former NFL linebacker for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, and was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year for Virginia Tech during his college career. 

Moore is a EdD candidate in Higher and Adult Education at the University of Memphis, with an expected graduation date of May 2023. His dissertation topic is An Examination of the Career Development and Career Transition of African American Male Student-Athletes at Division I Institutions.
