Lexington-Fayette County Board of Health Selects UK Nursing Instructor Kacy Allen-Bryant as 2017-18 Chair

Associate Dean of Graduate Faculty Affairs Presented with University Research Professorship Award

    College of Nursing Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Faculty Affairs Terry Lennie, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, was among 16 members of the University faculty to be presented with the University Research Professorship Award on Tuesday, May 2. The award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated excellence in research and creative work that addresses scientific, social, cultural, economic and health challenges in our region and around the world. College Instructor Stephanie Fugate Receives UK Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching

  The University of Kentucky recognized exceptional faculty and teaching assistants at the Outstanding Teaching Awards at the 2017 University of Kentucky Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, in Woodward Hall of the Gatton College of Business and Economics building. Recipients of the inaugural Inclusive Excellence Awards, in partnership with the Office for Institutional Diversity were also recognized.

College of Nursing Senior Administrator to Retire

It is bitter sweet to announce that after more than 18 years at the University of Kentucky’s College of Nursing, Dr. Patricia Burkhart – Associate Dean of Undergraduate Faculty Affairs and pediatric nurse for 45 years, will be retiring June 30th, 2017. 

College of Nursing Associate Professor Selected to Participate in UK WELD Program

Associate Professor and Director of Diversity and Inclusivity Jenna Hatcher, PhD, MPH, RN, was one of 26 people at the University of Kentucky selected to participate in the Women’s Executive Leadership Development (WELD) program during 2017. 

College of Nursing Students and Faculty Present at Southern Nursing Research Society 31st Annual Conference

  UK College of Nursing students and faculty recently presented at the Southern Nursing Research Society’s (SNRS) 31st annual conference, “Grounded in Research: Academic and Clinical Partnerships Transforming Health,” in Dallas, Tx., February 22-25.  The UK College of Nursing was proud to have eight undergraduate students presenting scholarly work - more than any other college and university in attendance.

Following the Clinical Leaders: Dr. Lynne Jensen

  Lynne Jensen, PhD, RN, APRN, associate professor, is a key member of the College’s clinical faculty and a leader in nursing practice, research and interdisciplinary education. A nurse practitioner since 1979, Dr. Jensen is now medical director for clinical care at the Center for the Advancement of Women’s Health at UK and a founding member of the center’s popular women’s health clinic, where she sees patients three days a week.

Following the Clinical Leaders: Lynn Kelso

  Lynn Kelso, MSN, APRN, FCCM, FAANP, assistant professor, teaches the academically rigorous Pathophysiology/Pharmacology course to BSN students and is a clinical instructor for their first major clinical experience in the hospital. They couldn’t be in better hands. In 1995, Kelso was a nurse practitioner on the care team in the liver transplant unit at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center when she earned acute care credentials, one of the first practitioners in the country to do so.

College of Nursing Professor Receives Melva Jo Hendrix Lectureship Award from International Society for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses

College of Nursing Associate Professor Evelyn Parrish, PhD, APRN-BC, was recently selected by the International Society for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses (ISPN) for the Melva Jo Hendrix Lectureship Award and will present “Professional Socialization of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Students in an Online Program: Can this be Achieved?” at the ISPN annual conference March 7-11, 2017 in Baltimore, Md.
