College of Nursing Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Faculty Affairs Terry Lennie, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, was among 16 members of the University faculty to be presented with the University Research Professorship Award on Tuesday, May 2. The award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated excellence in research and creative work that addresses scientific, social, cultural, economic and health challenges in our region and around the world. The UK College of Nursing was proud to have eight undergraduate students presenting scholarly work - more than any other college and university in attendance.

Lynne Jensen, PhD, RN, APRN, associate professor, is a key member of the College’s clinical faculty and a leader in nursing practice, research and interdisciplinary education. A nurse practitioner since 1979, Dr. Jensen is now medical director for clinical care at the Center for the Advancement of Women’s Health at UK and a founding member of the center’s popular women’s health clinic, where she sees patients three days a week.

Lynn Kelso, MSN, APRN, FCCM, FAANP, assistant professor, teaches the academically rigorous Pathophysiology/Pharmacology course to BSN students and is a clinical instructor for their first major clinical experience in the hospital. They couldn’t be in better hands. In 1995, Kelso was a nurse practitioner on the care team in the liver transplant unit at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center when she earned acute care credentials, one of the first practitioners in the country to do so.

College of Nursing Associate Professor Evelyn Parrish, PhD, APRN-BC, was recently selected by the International Society for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses (ISPN) for the Melva Jo Hendrix Lectureship Award and will present “Professional Socialization of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Students in an Online Program: Can this be Achieved?” at the ISPN annual conference March 7-11, 2017 in Baltimore, Md.
