Going Global for Students

Please join us for UK's Global Case Competition Sept.18 - 23! 

The Global Health Case Competition (GHCC) is an innovative student competition that rallies graduate and undergraduate students to participate on interdisciplinary teams to develop strategies that address a critical global health challenge. The top team will be awarded $1500 and travels to Emory University's International Case Competition.

The Office of Education Abroad offers a variety of programs for academic credit in the field of nursing. To get started with the program search process, please visit the Education Abroad Major Advising Page for Nursing, or visit the Education Abroad Resource Center in 315 Bradley Hall. 

Many other Education Abroad programs may count as pre-requisite, cognate or global dynamic core requirements. If you have questions or concerns regarding a specific program, please contact Allison Peoples (allison.peoples@uky.edu), the College of Nursing Education Abroad advisor. 

Featured Education Abroad programs for nursing students: 

• Shoulder to Shoulder Global: Four times/year health care teams with oversight from UK faculty partner with a full-time/year-round primary care clinic in Santo Domingo, Ecuador to supplement care in a low-resource community for 10 days. This can count towards nursing clinical or a cognate requirement. Please reach out to Dr. Hartley Feld or Ana Maria Linares if you have any questions! 
  • 2024 dates:
    • March 9-16
    • May 10-18
    • August 2-10
  • The brigade fee is $1,695 + flight.
• Study Longevity and Wellness in International "Blue Zones”: Alternating years in Greece and Costa Rica, every May for 8-10 day experiences. This counts as an approved Nursing cognate. Coming soon: links to Ikaria, Greece in 2024.
