Holmes Award Presented to Women in UK Nursing Areas

Out of nearly 6,000 health care organizations in the United States, less than 7 percent have achieved Magnet designation.

College of Nursing PhD Student and Alum Engage Kentucky High Schoolers in Collaborative Health Project

In Lewis County, Kentucky, however, high school freshmen are integrating these topics and skills through a collaborative, web-based project with scientists and students at the University of Kentucky.

Student Nurses Association Holds Clothing Drive for the Hope Center

The Student Nurses Association (SNA) is holding its annual clothing and holiday drive for the Hope Center. They are collecting NEW items such as: Long underwear Sweatshirts Gloves and hats Coats Backpacks SNA is also collecting toys for the many parents of young children who are in the Hope Center’s Residential Recovery Program. This is just a small way we can help others in the community have a brighter holiday season. There is a box in the UG lounge for donations until holiday break beings in December.

College of Nursing students have the opportunity to win a free t-shirt by using #UKCONsuccess on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram from now until Dec. 2. We want students to celebrate a friend’s success and share how we, as a college, are excelling and making a difference academically, personally and in the lives of patients. The first 100 people to use #UKCONsuccess may pick up a FREE t-shirt in the third floor student lounge during the following times: Tuesday, Nov. 17 11-1 pm. Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 11-1 pm.

College of Nursing Faculty Named Provider of the Month by the Advanced Practice Providers

Associate Professor Lynne Jensen, PhD, RN, APRN, was named provider of the month by the Advanced Practice Providers, a council that provides a forum for discussion of issues (national, state and institutional) relevant to the scope and standards of practice for advance practice providers. Jensen, who also serves as the medical director for the Advancement of Women’s Health Primary Care Practice, earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Boston College, her master’s as an adult nurse practitioner from State University of New York at Buffalo and her PhD at the University of Kentucky.

College of Nursing Awarded Highest Accreditation as Provider of Continuing Education

University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The accreditation has been granted with distinction, the highest recognition awarded by the ANCC, and will expire March 31, 2020.
