Nursing Lecturer Brings Innovation and Experience to the Online Classroom

  When University of Kentucky faculty were tasked with taking their classroom teaching online, the College of Nursing's Jennifer Cowley was faced with the prospect of having to scrap her plan for guest speakers for her Career Management course. But with the help of UK’s Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) and the instructional designers within the College of Nursing, Cowley was able to turn her guest speaker series into a podcast.

Dr. Zim Okoli receives Kentucky Nurse Researcher of the Year award

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing's Zim Okoli, PhD, MPH, MSN, RN, NCTTP, was recently awarded Outstanding Nurse Researcher of the Year for 2020 by the Kentucky Nurses Association.  

UK Nursing Faculty Named Assistant Director for Cancer Health Equity at Markey

  The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has appointed Lovoria Williams, Ph.D., as assistant director for cancer health equity, a newly created position within the Markey leadership structure.

Dr. Camille Burnett featured guest on "End Well Live"

  Dr. Camille Burnett was recently a featured guest on 'End Well Live', talking with End Well founder Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider about building equity and structural justice in communities of color, as it relates to the end of life. End Well Live is a weekly, virtual conversation on Facebook Live with a special guest about how we can collectively find community and best support those facing serious illness, support caregivers and families.

Nursing's Dr. Biddle receives grant from CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

Congratulations to Martha Biddle PhD, APRN, CCNS, FAHA for her success in receiving a new federal pilot award from the CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health title “Exploring the Feasibility of a Start-up Incubator Intervention to Decrease Occupational Stress and Depression in Beginning Kentucky Farmers”. This 12 month, $15,000  award, will address an existing knowledge gap related to occupational stress and depression in beginning farmers with a novel strategy of mentorship and a virtual community of support intervention.

Dr. Ty Borders receives UI College of Public Health 2020 Outstanding Alumni Award

Dr. Ty Borders, University of Kentucky College of Nursing professor and director of the Rural and Underserved Health Research Center, was recently named by the University of Iowa College of Public Health as one of their 2020 Outstanding Alumni.   Dr. Borders received a Master of Arts degree in hospital and health administration in 1995, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in hospital and health administration in 1999, and a Master of Science degree in epidemiology in 2001, all from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
