Drs. Judi Daniels, Darlene Welsh Inducted as Fellows into National Academies of Practice

Judi Daniels, PhD, APRN, FNP, PNP, FNAP, assistant professor, and Darlene Welsh, PhD, MSN, RN, FNAP, associate professor and assistant dean of BSN Program Studies, were recently inducted as a Fellows of the National Academies of Practice at the 2019 Annual Meeting and Forum in Pentagon City, Virginia, March 9.

Dr. Lovoria Williams Joins Eastern State Hospital Team

Lovoria Williams, PhD, APRN-BC, FAANP, associate professor, was fully credentialed at the UK HealthCare Medical Staff Operations Subcommittee meeting for her Department of Psychiatry appointment for faculty practice at Eastern State Hospital. Eastern State Hospital provides recovery-focused, individualized inpatient acute care mental health services in a modern, comfortable setting.

Dr. Lori Fugate Joins Wilmore Clinic Team

Lori Fugate, DNP, APRN, NP-C, WHNP-BC, MSN, RN, assistant professor, was fully credentialed at the UK HealthCare Medical Staff Operations Subcomittee meeting to practice at the Phyllis D. Corbitt Community Health Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. Currently, 43 percent of the college's full-time faculty are credentialed to practice at UK HealthCare or elsewhere in the community. Of those faculty, 71% are fully credentialed at UK HealthCare.

Dr. Carol Thompson Named Master of Critical Care Medicine in Society of Critical Care Medicine

  University of Kentucky (UK) College of Nursing Professor and Assistant Dean of MSN and DNP Program Studies Carol Thompson, PhD, DNP, RN, CCRN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, FCCM, FAANP, FAAN, was designated a Master of Critical Care Medicine (MCCM) by the Council of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) at the SCCM 48th Critical Care Congress in San Diego, Calif., February 18.

Dr. Kristin Ashford Selected as FNINR Ambassador

The Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR) are pleased to announce the selection of Kristin Ashford, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN, associate dean of Undergraduate Faculty and Interprofessional Education Affairs, one of five nurse scientists to join the fourth cohort of Ambassadors. This unique advocacy program began in 2014 and has grown to include over 30 Ambassadors. The 2019 selection includes five nurse scientists to join the ranks of others currently filling this role. 

Leslie Beebe Receives NAMI Lexington Pioneer Award

Leslie Beebe, MSN, RN, senior lecturer, received the 2018 NAMI Lexington Pioneer Award. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Dr. Hahn Featured on the “UK at the HALF” Live Radio Broadcast

    Working hard to help Kentuckians get on, and stay on, the road to better health. For the past 25 years, the University of Kentucky’s Ellen Hahn has been doing just that. Hahn is the Marcia A. Drake Endowed Professor of Nursing in University of Kentucky’s College of Nursing, and also has a joint appointment in the faculty of UK’s College of Public Health. She is director of BREATHE, and is a passionate advocate for disease prevention, including lung cancer, emphysema and other health maladies.

Alumna, Adjunct Associate Professor Named President of Emergency Nurses Association

Patti K. Howard, PhD, RN, CEN, CPEN, TCRN, NE-BC, FAEN, FAAN, adjunct associate professor and three-time graduate (BSN 1983, MSN 1990, PhD 2004) of the College of Nursing, has been named the president of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) for the second time in her distinguished career. Dr. Howard also serves as the UK HealthCare enterprise director for emergency services, and she previously served as the president of the College of Nursing Alumni Association from 2015-2017.
