DNP Student Succeeds in Global Health Case Competition for Third Consecutive Year

  UK College of Nursing DNP student Joy Coles, MBA, BSN, RN, recently placed second on her interdisciplinary team for the fourth annual Global Health Case Competition (GHCC). The competition, hosted by the UK International Center Global Health Initiative, encompassed both graduate and undergraduate students in 12 teams to address and propose solutions to real global health issues.

First Undergraduate Student Receives Nursing Jacket for Outstanding Clinical Performance

  On a clinical day, undergraduate BSN student Molly Pennington was assisting with a routine procedure that quickly escalated into an emergency. After it had passed, Pennington was commended by the attending physician for quick thinking, professionalism and insight that allowed the physician to help the patient and do what she needed in a crisis.

Bosnia to BSN: Elvisa Muratovic

By Tassy Taylor After fleeing the hardships of the Bosnian War (1992-1995), Elvisa Muratovic’s family settled in Bowling Green, Kentucky, looking for a better life. Muratovic, BSN, RN, was six years old. “I was born in the middle of the conflict. My grandpa fought for the Bosnians,” she says. Growing up, the Muratovic family was fortunate enough to stay together. After seeking refuge in the United States, Elvisa Muratovic was the first of her family to learn English. Her love for nursing naturally came to light soon after.

Senior BSN Student Amelia Metz Presents Project at Posters at the Capitol

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 12, 2018) — The University of Kentucky was represented by 16 undergraduate students and their 14 research projects at the 17th annual Posters-at-the-Capitol event last week at the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort. Posters-at-the-Capitol is an annual event that showcases undergraduate researchers representing colleges and universities throughout Kentucky. The annual collaborative event was created to educate Kentucky state legislators of the importance of undergraduate research and scholarly work.

College of Nursing DanceBlue Team Raises More than $20k For The Kids!

  By Tassy Taylor The College of Nursing DanceBlue team is proud to announce it raised $20,238.69 For The Kids (FTK) – more than double the amount raised last year. “Despite the records that were broken, the friendships that were made, and the fun we have had, at the end of the day, all our efforts were for the kids,” says the College’s DanceBlue co-captain and undergraduate BSN student Hannah Thompson. 

College of Nursing Students, Veterans Nursing Council Collect More Than 75,000 Caps for Lady Veterans Connect

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing Veterans Nursing Council and students in Dr. Lexie Dampier's NUR 201 class collected more than 75,000 bottle caps for Lady Veterans Connect, a non-profit organization in Lexington, Kentucky, which aims to end homelessness for lady veterans. The caps will be recycled into chairs for the Lady Veterans' homes.
