As the University of Kentucky continues to commemorate 70 years of integration on its campus this year, we want to congratulate our very own students and alumni for being recognized as 2019 Torch Bearer and Torch of Excellence recipients at the 29th annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards Luncheon. The luncheon celebrates the legacy of Lyman T. Johnson, the first African American student to attend the University of Kentucky.

The luncheon took place on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Gatton Student Center.

2019 Torch Bearer Recipients: Candace Adams, Karlene Woods and Anansa Thompson (all undergraduate nursing students).

The 2019 Torch of Excellence recipient was Mrs. Marsha Hughes-Reese (not pictured). Delanor Manson accepted her award on her behalf.
