Following in her mother's footsteps, Kaylee Fitzgerald knows that a career in nursing is rewarding because she grew up seeing how nurses impact healthcare. Kaylee is a sophomore nursing student in the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. She is also a student ambassador.

Here's what she shared about her journey as a UK Nursing Student:

Q.) Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?

A.) I chose to come here for Pre-Nursing because, being from Kentucky, I have always heard that the University of Kentucky's nursing program is the best in the state! I still believe this is one of the best decisions I have ever made. So far, the College of Nursing has been amazing, and I really enjoy how close-knit everyone is!

Q.) Why do you want to become a registered nurse?

A.) I want to become a registered nurse for many reasons. The biggest one is the number of health care workers I have in my family. They have served as an inspiration for me to pursue this career. I grew up going to work with my mom, a registered nurse, and ever since then, I have known that a career in the health care field was what I want.

Q.) What has been your favorite experience in the Traditional BSN program so far?

A.) My favorite experience thus far has been meeting all the other students in my nursing classes and becoming very good friends with many of them. Everyone has similar goals in the College of Nursing, and they are more than happy to help when you need it! Never be afraid to ask anyone for help, or even to ask someone to study with you. Everyone is super caring and will always help out in any way they can.
