The University of Kentucky College of Nursing's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) continues its long-standing tradition of excellence by ranking 20th among all U.S. public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report.  

This year, for the first time in U.S. News & World Report rankings, the digital media company ranked the nation's top BSN programs.  Among the 695 ranked institutions, the UK College of Nursing's BSN program ranked number one in the South Eastern Conference, number 20 among U.S. public institutions and number 23 overall.  

"I am extremely proud of our College's BSN program ranking because it reflects our faculty and leadership's dedicated efforts to not only provide a high level of academic and clinical instruction, but to also focus on wellness as part of students' overall success," said Janie Heath, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN, FNAP, FAANP, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing at the UK College of Nursing. "Under the leadership of Dr. Kristin Ashford and Dr. Darlene Welsh, our BSN program continues to evolve and improve--including recent curriculum revisions to incorporate the concepts of resilience, ethics, advocacy and leadership into all major courses. Above all, we know our program's success lies in the success of our students, and therefore we will remain committed to helping our graduates reach their full potential in both nursing and life."

Kristin Ashford, PhD, WHNP-BC, FAAN, is associate dean of undergraduate faculty & interprofessional education affairs at UK's College of Nursing and Darlene Welsh, PhD, RN, FNAP, is a professor and assistant dean of BSN program studies at the UK College of Nursing. 

For Fall 2021, the UK College of Nursing has 588 students enrolled in the Traditional BSN program, 84 students enrolled in the Accelerated BSN program and 174 students enrolled in the RN to BSN program. 

Over the last ten years, on average, BSN graduates from the UK College of Nursing pass the NCLEX at a rate of 98 percent. Learn more rankings and standout facts about the UK College of Nursing.
