Dean Janie Heath Joins UK Faculty Colleagues Inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

  The University of Kentucky chapter of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi recently inducted a total of 50 new members in ceremonies at the E.S. Good Barn on campus. Forty-four students together with six faculty, administrative and community honorees were welcomed into the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. Associate Professor Dr. Gia Mudd-Martin Inducted as Fellow of the American Heart Association

Associate Professor Gia Mudd-Martin, PhD, MPH, RN, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) during the annual American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Anaheim, California. 

Dr. Kristin Ashford Receives $600,000 Rita & Alex Hillman Foundation Innovation Award

  For her work in addressing the opioid epidemic and its impact on maternal-fetal health, Kristin Ashford, associate professor and associate dean of Undergraduate Faculty Affairs in the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, has been awarded the Hillman Innovations in Care Program grant from the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation.

Three UK Nurses Receive Florence Nightingale Award in Nursing

  Kristin Ashford, PhD, WHNP-BC, FAAN, Gwen Moreland, DNP, RN, NE-BC and Carol Wright (UK CON alum) were among six nurse leaders awarded the University of Louisville School of Nursing Nightingale Award on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Mellwood Arts Center. The award recognizes Registered Nurses (RNs) who excel in providing patient care, impact the profession of nursing and/or improve the overall health of citizens living in Kentucky or Southern Indiana through practice, teaching, research and/or service.

The American Academy of Nursing has selected two University of Kentucky College of Nursing faculty members, Dorothy Brockopp, PhD, RN, professor, and Sheila Melander, PhD, APRN, ACNP-BC, FCCM, FAANP, to be inducted into its 2017 class of Academy fellows. The inductees will be honored at a ceremony to be held during the Academy's annual policy conference, Transforming Health, Driving Policy, which will take place October 5-7, 2017 in Washington, D.C.
