Fran Feltner Receives 2016 Paul Mason Memorial Award

Fran Feltner, director of the University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) in Hazard and a College of Nursing instructor, has received the 2016 Paul Mason Memorial Award during the 68th Annual Conference of the Kentucky Public Health Association (KPHA) held in Owensboro on April 12-14. Feltner, a native of Leslie County, has worked for more than 30 years in rural health care, from serving as a nurse in clinical and hospital settings to her current role.

College of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner Named NAP Distinguished Fellow

The National Academies of Practices (NAP) has designated family nurse practitioner Kathy Wheeler, a faculty member in the UK College of Nursing, a Distinguished Public Policy Fellow. The honor was given during the NAP national conference in April.

Amanda Fallin-Bennett, PhD, RN, assistant research professor, Kristin Ashford, PhD, WHNP-BC, FAAN, associate professor, and two undergraduate research interns, Alana Miller and Sara Assef, are featured on the Journal of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing’s (JOGNN) website for their paper, Perceptions of Electronic Cigarettes Among Medicaid-Eligible Pregnant and Postpartum Women, which is also published in the most recent edition of the JOGNN.

Dr. Ellen Hahn Among 17 University Research Professors Approved by UK Board

  College of Nursing Professor Ellen Hahn, PhD, RN, FAAN, is one of 17 University Research Professors approved by the The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees for the 2016-2017 year. 

College of Nursing PhD Program Director Receives Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Award

Susan Frazier, PhD, RN, FAHA, associate professor and PhD program director at the College of Nursing, received the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation award: Future of Nursing Scholars at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, Cohort 3 (2016-2019). This $150,000 award will support the tuition, stipend, living expenses and fees for two scholars who will begin their PhD programs in September 2016.

College of Nursing Professor Inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International 2016 Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame

  The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) inducted Terry Lennie, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, professor and associate dean of graduate faculty affairs at the UK College of Nursing, as well as 18 other nurse researchers, into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. The induction took place at STTI’s 27th International Nursing Research Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, July 21-25.
