BREATHE Team has Article Featured in Journal of Environmental Health

Members of the UK College of Nursing Bridging Research Efforts and Advocacy Toward Health Environments (BREATHE) team recently had an article published in the Journal of Environmental Health (JEH) titled “Lung Cancer Worry and Home Screening for Radon and Secondhand Smoke in Renters.”

Five Open Faculty Positions at the College of Nursing

The UK College of Nursing is seeking qualified individuals for five open faculty positions: one research-focused position in the regular title series (tenure track, 12 month appointment), one practice/service leadership-focused position in the special title series (tenure track, 12 month appointment) and three clinical title series positions for the undergraduate program. Please note that to be considered an applicant for this position, you must submit an application via UK’s online employment system.

Undergraduate Nursing Student Showcases Research to Kentucky State Legislature at Posters-at-the-Capitol

  Undergraduate nursing research intern Whitney Hiner was one of 16 students from the University of Kentucky to showcase her research to the state legislature in Frankfort, Ky. on March 2. “This is a competitive and wonderful opportunity for students to present to and inform our officials,” says Janie Heath, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing. “We are so proud of Whitney for representing the College and the nursing profession, advocating for a healthier and safer Kentucky for all.”

College of Nursing Students and Faculty Present at Southern Nursing Research Society 31st Annual Conference

  UK College of Nursing students and faculty recently presented at the Southern Nursing Research Society’s (SNRS) 31st annual conference, “Grounded in Research: Academic and Clinical Partnerships Transforming Health,” in Dallas, Tx., February 22-25.  The UK College of Nursing was proud to have eight undergraduate students presenting scholarly work - more than any other college and university in attendance.

College of Nursing DanceBlue Team Raises $8,949 For the Kids, Wins FTK Cup

Members of the UK College of Nursing participated in and fundraised for DanceBlue, raising $8,949 "For the Kids" and taking home the FTK Cup, which is awarded to a small team (non-Greek) at DanceBlue that raises the most money and has the most involvement in year-round DanceBlue activities.

SNA Members Write "Open When" Letters to Encourage and Support Undergraduate Nursing Students

  Students at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing go above and beyond to serve others both in the community and within the College. In her role as service coordinator for Student Nurses Association (SNA), undergraduate nursing student Lindsey Snider brainstorms ideas to give back every month. “What we did this month was actually our backup idea – we got it from Alphi Phi Omega, a service fraternity on campus,” says Snider.

Pre-Nursing Student Emily Dawson was once a Cancer Patient, Now a Dancer at the Danceblue 24-Hour Fundraiser

  The Lexington Herald Leader ran a story about University of Kentucky freshman pre-nursing student Emily Dawson at the UK Arboretum in Lexington, Ky., on Feb. 24, 2017. Dawson, a cancer survivor participated in Dance Blue, the 24 hour dance marathon for cancer awareness and fundraiser for cancer research.
