College of Nursing Celebrates Golden Wildcats

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing celebrated the Golden Wildcats - the class of 1969 - with a special dinner at the Hilary J. Boone Center on Thursday, October 10, 2019. The College was also joined by Minji Kim, BSN junior and Homecoming queen finalist, as well as Dr. Gwen Moreland, three-time College of Nursing alumna and Chief Nurse Executive for UK HealthCare. The celebrations will continue on Friday, October 11, at the annual homecoming luncheon.

Scholarship Brunch 2019

  The College of Nursing celebrated and honored its scholarship donors at its annual Scholarship Brunch on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Gatton Student Center. "We deeply thank all donors for their continuous support of our students, the College and nursing as a profession," says Janie Heath, PhD, APRN, FAAN, FNAP, FAANP, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing. "It is powerful to see our students meeting with their donors to thank them for their important contributions."

College Holds Blessing of the Hands Ceremony for Incoming Nursing Students

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing held its semiannual Blessing of the Hands ceremony to welcome incoming nursing students and reflect on the work of Florence Nightingale, the Lady with the Lamp, during the Crimean War.

College of Nursing Hosts Annual Student Scholarship Showcase Alongside CCTS Conference

  The UK College of Nursing scholarship showcase was held alongside the 14th annual spring conference of the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) on April 15 at the Lexington Convention Center. While the CCTS supports research across the spectrum of diseases, this year's conference focused on "The Science of Health Policy and Systems Change."

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Inducts College of Nursing Students at 42nd Annual Ceremony

  On Saturday, April 13, the Delta Psi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society inducted 42 University of Kentucky BSN students, 22 DNP students and five PhD students. In addition, four BSN students from Berea College and six BSN students from Campbellsville University were inducted. 

Black History Month: Honoring Nurses and Leaders from UK

College Holds Second Blessing of Hands Ceremony

  The UK College of Nursing held its second semiannual Blessing of the Hands Ceremony on January 8, during which incoming nursing students heard remarks from College of Nursing faculty and UK HealthCare's chaplain. The ceremony symbolizes what it means to become a nurse and touch the lives of countless patients. Students gathered in a large circle, exchanged words and lit flashlights to mark the beginning of their nursing careers.
