UK, Asbury University announce nursing education partnership

WILMORE, Ky. (Jan. 11, 2024) — Asbury University and the University of Kentucky College of Nursing are pleased to announce a dual enrollment agreement for students to complete both an Asbury bachelor’s degree and, after transferring to UK with preferred admission to the UK College of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in under five years, meeting a direct need for highly qualified nurses in the state of Kentucky and beyond.

UK College of Nursing celebrates 20 years of DNP

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing (CoN) recently celebrated 20 years of its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. UK’s DNP program was the first in the nation, and on April 14 faculty, alumni and students joined together to celebrate all the incredible nurses that come from UK. 

UK College of Nursing Ranks in Top 2% in Nation for BSN Programs; Top 5% for DNP Programs

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing strives for excellence in education, practice, research, and service and its programs are continuously recognized both nationally and internationally. In the latest U.S. News & World Report, the UK College of Nursing’s BSN Program was ranked in the top 2% as No. 15 out of 681 BSN nursing programs across the country. This represents an increase from its top 20 ranking in 2021.  In addition, The UK College of Nursing DNP program was ranked in the top 5% as No.

Diabetes in Kentucky Schools Training Program

About  The Diabetes in KY Schools Training Program is designed specifically for school nurses and unlicensed school personnel. During the training, participants will learn how to provide diabetes-related care, education, and medication administration in a school setting to students with diabetes.  Fast Facts 

Nursing to be part of new, interdisciplinary UK Health Education Building

  In April 2022, the University of Kentucky announced a commitment to build a new Health Education Building that will aid in the University's mission to train health professionals who will advance the well-being of the Commonwealth and beyond. The new building project is a collaboration among four health care colleges – Medicine, Public Health, Health Sciences and Nursing.

PhD program offering new $30,000 fellowship opportunity

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing is offering a new fellowship for one exceptional Fall 2022 new admission to the College's PhD program. The fellowship will provide a yearly stipend of $30,000, plus tuition, fees and health insurance for up to three years to complete and defend the dissertation. Yearly reapplication will be necessary to renew the fellowship. The fellowship will be awarded only if exceptional applications are received.

This includes stepping up to create accredited training programs to teach providers how to effectively treat tobacco dependence.
