Step 1: Submit College of Nursing Application

  • The College of Nursing Undergraduate Nursing Application for 2024-2025 is available at the following link: College of Nursing Undergraduate Nursing Application 2024-2025. The deadline to apply is March 1.
  • Do not send reference letters as they are not considered.
  • Do not send an official UK transcript as we can see that work in myUK.
  • Academic requirements (pre-requisite courses, CUM and Science GPA) will be reviewed along with the video interview and writing exercise. 
  • The minimum GPA to apply is 3.0 cumulative (all college work, including dual/transfer credits) and 3.0 science GPA (ANA/PGY, BIO, CHE).
  • To be considered, you must have completed by the end of Spring 2024 semester the following courses at UK or equivalent courses as determined through the Transfer Center. Minimum grade acceptable in each course is C.  
    • ANA 109 & 110 OR
    • ANA 209 & PGY 206
    • BIO 103
    • CHE 103
    • CIS/WRD 110
    • CIS/WRD 111 (OR CIS/WRD 112)
    • PSY 100 or 323
    • The following courses have been approved as alternatives for psych/social science: SOC 101, FAM 254, CPH 201

Step 2: Pay Application Fee and Schedule Interview

Interviews are conducted via an online platform. Applicants will need a computer with a camera to record responses to video questions. There is a $50 fee for the interview, payable by credit card. Instructions will be included in the invitation. 

Coursework when applying for 2024-2025 and also enrolled elsewhere (not UK) during Spring 2024:

  • If you are taking any classes at another institution (either in person or online) in addition to classes at UK, you must email your nursing advisor with a list of the courses you are taking and the name of the college/university. If you do not have a nursing advisor, send the information to conss@uky.edu.

  • A copy of your FINAL grades from the other institution must be received by the College of Nursing no later than May 8, in order to be considered for admission. If an official transcript is not available to be received by May 8, we will accept the following for decision-making purposes.

    • Email a scanned student copy of the transcript with grades posted OR a screenshot of the individual grades to your nursing advisor as outlined above. 

    • Your name, FINAL grade and course name must be visible.

    • You will also need to send an official transcript to the UK Admissions Office. 
  • Official transcripts for ALL work completed prior to the spring 2024 semester AT ANOTHER INSTITUTION must be received by UK Admissions before March 1, if you have not already sent them. If you are not sure that UK has transcripts of any and all work completed at another institution prior to the spring 2024 semester, please check your degree audit or unofficial UK transcript for additional credits posted.

What's Next

Applications will be reviewed at the end of spring semester after UK’s final grades are complete.

  • Everyone who applies will get a letter about their status no later than the second week if June.
  • Please provide an accurate UK email address. Decision letters will be sent to your UK email address. Correspondence returned as undeliverable will not be sent a second time.
  • If you are offered a fall spot, you will need to complete DHN 212/Introductory Nutrition and BIO 208/Principles of Microbiology before the fall semester begins.
