Scholarships

The UK College of Nursing (CON) offers several scholarships for undergraduate students.

The average scholarship award is $1,000-$2,000, and both the scholarships and amounts available to award vary from year to year. Recipients are awarded for one academic year, unless otherwise stated in the award notification which also includes award disbursement details.

UK College of Nursing students who are enrolled in the Traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN or RN to BSN programs may apply for CON scholarships.

Most scholarships are renewable, provided the recipient continues to meet the terms of the scholarship and makes reasonable academic progress. View UK’s Reasonable Academic Progress Policy. Even if the scholarship is renewable, students must apply annually for continued support.

How to Apply

Apply for College of Nursing Scholarships

Complete the 2024-25 College of Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship Application on Scholarship Universe if you are requesting aid for Fall 2024 through Summer 2025 academic year.

The application will open in April 2024 and the deadline is TBA.

Applications will be reviewed by the College of Nursing’s scholarship committee, who will then determine all scholarship awards. Applicants are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Award recipients and non-recipients will be notified before the new academic year begins via email.

The College adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Scholarship Brunch

Hosted annually by the College of Nursing, this event provides an opportunity for donors and their families to meet the recipients of the scholarships they have established. All scholarship award recipients are expected to attend.

Legacy Tuition Program: This program at UK offers partial tuition awards to eligible non-resident undergraduate children of UK graduates.
UK Employee Education Program: If you work full time for UK, you are eligible for up to eight credit hours in free tuition each semester.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

Occasionally the College of Nursing receives information about scholarship opportunities from outside agencies. This information is made available to students through The Dose, the College's biweekly enewsletter, and on monitors throughout the College of Nursing Building.

There are many scholarships available. Plan to spend time researching online to find them by entering “nursing school scholarship.” Check with the armed forces (any branch — UK has Air Force ROTC and Army ROTC on campus), parents’ employers, hospitals (nurse recruitment or human resources), non-profit organizations, nursing organizations, private lending institutions and local, state or federal agencies.
