Healthcare Simulation Week 2019

  The College of Nursing celebrated Healthcare Simulation Week with a reception in its Clinical Simulation and Learning Center (CSLC) on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Students, faculty and staff joined the global simulation community for the week, recognizing professionals who improve the safety, effectiveness and quality of health care services every day. The week also raises awareness in communities nationwide about how health care simulation is leading us to a safer, more knowledgeable patient care.

UK Family Weekend 2019

  College of Nursing students, faculty and staff celebrated UK Family Weekend September 13-15. On Saturday, the CON hosted a tailgate where all were welcome to enjoy a cookout, inflatables, Crank and Boom ice cream, Steel City Pops, giveaways, special guest appearances, and more. View photos here.

RICH Heart Program Hosts Third Annual Writing Institute

  The College of Nursing RICH (Research and Interventions for Cardiovascular Health) Heart Team hosted the third annual RICH Writing Institute on July 29-August 2 in the Gatton Student Center to assist scholars in becoming adept at writing for publication.   

College of Nursing Simulation Center Awarded Provisional Accreditation from Society for Simulation in Healthcare

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing Clinical Simulation and Learning Center (CSLC) has been awarded provisional accreditation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. It is now the only accredited center in the state of Kentucky.

National Nurses Week 2019: Four Million Reasons to Celebrate

There is no better time to celebrate the four million registered nurses in the U.S. than the week of Florence Nightingale’s birthday – the Mother of Modern Nursing. Nursing Faculty Meet with Nation's Drug Czar

  Kristin Ashford, PhD, APRN, WHNP-BC, FAAN, professor and associate dean of Undergraduate Faculty and Interprofessional Education Affairs, and Amanda Fallin-Bennett, PhD, RN, assistant professor, met with Jim Carroll, the national director of the Office of Drug Control Policy on Tuesday, March 19. Currently, Dr. Ashford serves as founder of Beyond Birth, and Dr. Fallin-Bennett serves as the Director of Voices of Hope. The group also met with Governor Matt Bevin, Congressman Andy Barr and Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton. 

Students Meet with KY Representative for KCNPNM Legislative Day

  Dr. Jean Edward's health policy students were accompanied by Dr. Julie Ossege to meet with Rep. Russell Webber in Frankfort, KY, for the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives Legislative Day on Feb. 27.
