UK agriculture and nurse researchers’ Farmers’ Dinner Theater grows safety, mental health awareness in rural Kentucky

  Rural young Kentuckians will have the opportunity to explore their artistic skills while learning about farm safety and mental health through Farmers’ Dinner Theater, a partnership between the University of Kentucky College Nursing and the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Dr. Hartley Feld receives 2021 UKHC-UKCON Academic-Clinical Engagement Award

New RUHRC brief shows trends in Medicare-Paid Naloxone in Rural vs. Metropolitan Areas

The Rural & Underserved Health Research Center (RUHRC) has published a new brief, "Medicare-Paid Naloxone: Trends in Non-Metropolitan and Metropolitan Areas."   Download the brief here  Figure 1 (below):  Medicare-paid naloxone dispensing rate per 1,000 enrollees in Medicare Part D in non-metropolitan and metropolitan areas in the U.S., 2015-2018.   Some key findings from this brief include:

Congratulations to the University of Kentucky College of Nursing's Misook Chung PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN  for receiving the 2021 Global Korean Nursing Foundation's (DHKF)-USA Duck Hee Kang Mentor award. 

UK College of Nursing honors Spring 2021 graduates in PhD, DNP programs

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing celebrated its Fall 2020/Spring 2021 Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice graduates during a Virtual PhD & DNP Recognition Ceremony on Friday, May 14, 2021.   The ceremony was led by Janie Heath, dean of the UK College of Nursing, and also recognized the College's post-graduate certificate recipients.  

UK College of Nursing celebrates BSN Class of Spring 2021

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing honored its 81st Baccalaureate graduating class with a Pinning Ceremony at Memorial Coliseum on Friday, May 14, 2021.   The ceremony was led by Janie Heath, dean of the UK College of Nursing, and Lindsey Osbourne, president of the Class of Spring 2021.  Other featured speakers included Spring 2021 BSN graduates Jilian Adolf and Zachary Whitfield.       Pictured above left to right are Julian Adolf and Zach Whitfield.

In May 2020, the University of Kentucky College of Nursing students, staff and faculty were all working from home. UK HealthCare had constructed a 400-bed field hospital to prepare for a potential surge in COVID-19 patients.  And nurses and health care workers across the world were on the frontlines battling a pandemic the likes of which most of us had never seen.
