Caroline Cunningham, president of the May Class of 2018: Good morning and welcome to the University of Kentucky College of Nursing pinning ceremony.  My name is Caroline Cunningham, and I am the class president for the May 2018 graduates on stage behind me.  On behalf of our class, I would like thank everyone for coming to celebrate with us this morning.  To our families, friends, faculty, and nursing mentors who have encouraged and supported us throughout this four-year journey of nursing school: thank you.  We made it to this stage today because of you.

Associate Professor Inducted into Inaugural Class of Fellows of the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses

Jan Odom Forren, PhD, RN, CPAN, FASPAN, FAAN, associate professor, was inducted into the inaugural class of Fellows of the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses at the 37th National Conference in Anaheim, California, April 22-May 3. Professional nurses from across the U.S. gathered for the conference, which was themed "Detecting Greatness: The Proof is in our Practice." Participants discussed current information on clinical practice, standards, evidence-based practice, research and new technologies that contribute to safe, quality patient care in the perianesthesia setting.

Heroes of UK: Shannon Beebe Among First Students to Graduate from MedVet-BSN Option

  Shannon Beebe knew from a young age she wanted to help people. Inspired by her mother who was a nurse, Shannon grew up watching her work in a clinic, interacting with doctors and patients. Associate Professor Receives Susan McCabe Lectureship Award

Evelyn Parrish, PhD, PMHNP, associate professor and director of Accreditation and Strategic Outcomes at the College of Nursing, served as the opening speaker at the International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses Annual Psychopharmacology Institute and Annual Conference on Tuesday, April 10, in Tempe, Arizona — an honor she received as the 2018 Susan McCabe Lectureship Award recipient. The McCabe Lectureship is given to individuals to present topics that have enriched and advanced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing scholarship through practice, education or research.

Annual KCSP Conference Honors Smoke-free Advocates Across Kentucky

The Kentucky Center for Smoke-free Policy (KCSP) and their community partners celebrated fifteen years of smoke-free stories across the Commonwealth during its annual conference, "Sharing the Smoke-free Story" on Wednesday, April 11, at the Lexington Convention Center.

College of Nursing Hosts Annual Student Scholarship Showcase Alongside CCTS Conference

  The UK College of Nursing scholarship showcase was held alongside the 13th annual spring conference of the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) on April 13 at the Lexington Convention Center. While the CCTS supports research across the spectrum of diseases, this year's conference focused on using translational science to address the opioid epidemic. Associate Professor Inducted as Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Nursing

College of Nursing Associate Professor Mollie Aleshire, DNP, APRN-BC, was inducted as a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) on April 14th in Atlanta, Georgia. NAP, a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on our health care system, is dedicated to affordable, accessible, coordinated quality healthcare for all.
