Faculty Members, PhD Student Represent College of Nursing on Capitol Hill

Representatives from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing recently met with eight Kentucky legislators on Capitol Hill on behalf of Friends of the National Institute for Nursing Research (FNINR), the advocacy arm of the National Institute for Nursing Research (NINR) which is one of 27 institutes of the National Institutes of Health that funds nurse researchers.

College of Nursing Employees Receive Outstanding Staff Awards

Two University of Kentucky College of Nursing employees, Kathy Collins and Kevin Garland, received Outstanding Staff Awards on Tuesday, October 10.

Homecoming 2017 - Celebrating the Class of 1967, our Golden Wildcats!

The College of Nursing celebrated the 50th anniversary of the class of 1967  - our Golden Wildcats - and the classes of 1977, 1987, 1997 and 2007 at the Signature Club on Friday, Oct. 6. Students and faculty gathered for lunch and heard from Dr. Janie Heath, dean and Warwick Professor of Nursing, to honor the legacy and tradition of nursing excellence left by the Golden Wildcats.

UK College of Nursing Promotes Two Faculty to Rank of Associate Dean

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing recently promoted two faculty to the rank of associate dean. Kristin Ashford, PhD, APRN, WHNP-BC, FAAN, was promoted to associate dean of Undergraduate Faculty & Interprofessional Education Affairs, and Sheila Melander, PhD, APRN, ACNP-BC, FCCM, FAANP, was promoted to associate dean of MSN & DNP Faculty and Practice Affairs.

Scholarship Brunch 2017

  Students, families, members of the College and scholarship donors gathered on Saturday, September 9 at the Hyatt Regency for the College of Nursing's annual Scholarship Brunch to celebrate the academic successes of and scholarships for several undergraduate and graduate students.  One such student, Heather R. Hollingsworth, received the Sally G. Siebert Scholarship for Nurse Practitioner Students. "I plan on making a difference in the world and your generosity is helping me making that a reality," she says.

Now pregnant with her fifth child, she hopes she can finally kick the habit.

UK Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Program Receives Accreditation

  The University of Kentucky College of Nursing’s BREATHE Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) training program received accreditation from the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) on Aug. 16. The program is one of 18 accredited training programs for tobacco treatment internationally.
